Teams march behind their flags during opening ceremonies at the 2016 American Quarter Horse Youth World Cup

The teams of the 2016 American Quarter Horse Youth World Cup marched in behind their countries’ flags June 24, preparing for competition and camaraderie.

During the opening ceremonies at the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Center in Tamworth, Australia, local dignitaries and AQHA President Sandy Arledge welcomed a large crowd of supports, about 200 schoolchildren from Tamworth and all the team members to the competition.

A small army of volunteers is part of the team celebrating the biennial competition that puts youth from around the world on American Quarter Horses.
