The entry form is now available online for the 2014 Zoetis AQHA Cattle Novice Championship Show, slated for April 18-19 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. Entries were due March 21. Late entries will be accepted up to one hour prior to the class you wish to enter. Late fees will apply.
To enter the event, an exhibitor must have Level 1 (formerly Novice) eligibility January 1, 2013 - March 21, 2014, in the class they wish to enter. The exhibitor must also be an AQHA member at the time of entry and at the time of the 2014 Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship. If a competitor graduated out of Level 1 (Novice) in the 2013 show season, he or she is still invited to enter the event.
Level 1 eligibility is determined on a class-by-class basis. If exhibitors would like to determine if they are Level 1-eligible in a particular class, they are encouraged to use the online level verification system at www.aqha.com/leveling.
“Even if you have never competed at an AQHA-approved event, we’d love to see you competing at the inaugural Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship,” said AQHA Executive Vice President Don Treadway Jr. “There has never been a better time to start competing at AQHA shows, especially when the chance to be crowned the first Zoetis Cattle Novice champion is on the line.”
The following classes are on the Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship line-up:
- Working cow horse
- Ranch horse pleasure
- Breakaway roping
- Tie-down roping
- Team penning
- Ranch sorting
- Performance halter mares
- Performance halter geldings
To compete in a performance halter class, the horse-and-rider team must also be entered in a performance class at the Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship. And if a horse and rider compete in performance halter or reining at the Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship, they will not be able to compete in either of those classes at either the 2014 SmartPak West or Nutrena East AQHA Novice championship shows. If a horse and rider competed in reining and performance halter at the either the 2013 SmartPak West or Nutrena East Novice championships, they are still allowed to enter the 2014 Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship, provided they are eligible.
