As the Washington State Quarter Horse Association continues to implement new programs, a new spring show has been added in Wenatchee: “No Silver, No Sequins,” to be held April 2-5, 2015.

“We’re excited to add a new show to the eastern side of the state,” said Rebecca Moore, president of WSQHA. “We have four major shows each year in Monroe. Expanding to Wenatchee will not only fulfill our goal of connecting with more Quarter Horse owners in the state, but will also provide a venue closer to home than Scottsdale, Arizona, or Las Vegas for riders wanting to compete for qualification points in early spring.”

“The Wenatchee facility has great footing, two covered arenas, three large outside uncovered arenas, and brand-new show barns in the works,” said Lisa Gardner, show manager.

“We’re offering showmanship, halter, western pleasure, horsemanship, trail, western riding, hunter under saddle, hunt seat equitation, reining, ranch riding, and speed events at this show,” she continued. Reining and ranch riding (formerly ranch horse pleasure), in particular, have become more popular events at the WSQHA shows.

No banding, no braiding and only requiring jeans/slacks, a long-sleeved shirt and hat will open the doors for new exhibitors and reduce the show costs.

WSQHA is not just excited about adding the new show; they are just as excited about the format, class prizes and extra events. The “No Silver No Sequins” format allows riders to show to four AQHA judges – Ryan Kail, Cliff Kellmer, Michael Jung and Robin Jung – in schooling saddles and pressed Wranglers! A random rider in each class, under each judge, wins $20. In addition to the show, a Sunday Cowboy Church, Easter brunch, and Easter egg hunt are also planned.

Riders who are members of, or who join the WSQHA at this show, will earn points toward year-end awards and toward qualifying for AQHA Level 1 and world championship shows.
