AQHA Region Nine exhibitors are preparing for the 2016 Merial AQHA Region Nine Championship Show. The show, slated for June 3-5 at the Kirk Fordice Equine Center in Jackson, Mississippi, provides American Quarter Horse enthusiasts a chance to test their horse-showing skills.

This regional championship features three days packed with a variety of classes, starting with trail at noon on June 3. AQHA judges Tina Anderson, Jim Dudley, Matt Howell and Mark Sheridian will judge the event. Exhibitors at this regional championship have the opportunity to win great products from AQHA partners Montana Silversmiths, Professional’s Choice and Noble Outfitters.

“These shows are the best way for exhibitors to get their feet wet in AQHA championship shows,” said Charlie Hemphill, AQHA director of shows and new events. “The shows also give Level 1 exhibitors the opportunity to qualify for the AQHA Level 1 Championships in 2017.”

Level 1-eligible exhibitors who place in the top 10 in any amateur/Select/youth regional championship class will earn an invitation on that horse to compete at the 2017 AQHA Level 1 Championships. Visit www.aqha.com/level1championships for more details.

Regions 2, 6, 5 and 8 will also hold 2016 Merial AQHA Regional Championship shows. Region 1 will not offer the same awards as the other regional championships, however Level 1 exhibitors placing in the top 10 at the Region One Regional Championship Show will also qualify for the 2017 AQHA Level 1 Championships. Exhibitors from every region are invited to attend a regional championship show, but an exhibitor may only compete at one regional championship per year.
