Colleen R. Cotey
Colleen R. Cotey was raised in rural western Washington on a small farm. Before becoming a professional artist, Colleen enjoyed showing her mare in 4-H, had started colts on a working cattle ranch in Colorado and lead horse treks in Ireland, where she lived for nearly four years. Wherever life takes her, the horse usually remains the centerpiece.
Colleen’s wire sculptures are held in private collections around the world. She is a Signature Member of the Society of Animal Artists, New York (SAA), as well as an Elected Member of the National Sculpture Society (NSS), New York. In 2014 she was the recipient of the Evelyn and Pater Haller Distinguished Young Artist Award by the SAA. Last year she was awarded the Marilyn Newmark Memorial Grant for a meritorious body of work in Animal Sculpture.
Today, Colleen resides in Olympia, Washington, with her husband, son, gelding, rescue dogs and cat.
