Born and raised in north central Texas, Howard Halbert early on developed an interest in portraying horses, cattle and everyday occurrences of the West in pencil.
After many years as a partner in a large ranching operation, Howard picked up a pencil and began to pursue his dream of becoming a professional artist. “I believe my passion and love of horses and the Western way of life show in my work. Howard credits Texas artist George Hallmark for recognizing his talent and encouraging him to pursue his calling.
Howard has exhibited in shows and museums across the country, including the Small Works Great Wonders at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, where his piece titled “Full Attention” was awarded the Volunteer’s Choice Award in 2016.
His work can be found in numerous private collections, and his originals are represented by McLarry Fine Art, Santa Fe, and The Howell Gallery, Oklahoma City.
