Born and raised in regional South Australia, Yvette Frahn continues to live and work as a full time equine artist in her stone Tractor Shed studio on one of the family farms. Inspired by her environment of intense light and powerful color contrasts, she creates her art for clients worldwide. Inspired daily by her own horses, Yvette paints to seek a greater understanding of them in her drive to capture their spirit.
Beginning at age 4, her passion for all things equine has been a lifetime obsession. Studying equine anatomy was all part of the need to understand the horse from the inside out. As a result the work she creates captures a sense of much more than the anatomical beauty of her subjects; the underlying structures and the environmental influences are quite apparent.
During her youth, Yvette competed in showjumping and was the first regional winner of her state’s aggregate showjumping cup. She then temporarily swapped her boots for university, completing a degree in visual arts, followed by education and business degrees.
In 2013, she traveled to the U.S. to research opportunities to expand her horizons as an equine art specialist.
