America’s Horse in Art returns to the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo and celebrates the event’s 11-year anniversary. The exhibit includes a list of more than 40 world-renowned Western artists providing pieces for the 11th annual art show and sale. Mark your calendar now for the show’s opening on August 18 or plan a trip to view this year’s exhibit before it closes October 13.

Over the past 11 years, top Western artists have been invited to participate in the show to present new paintings, drawings and sculptures in the Scharbauer Gallery. This year, they continue the tradition and celebrate 11 years of exhibition.

The signature piece for the 2018 show is a piece by artist Don Weller of Oakley, Utah. The piece is titled “Red Rock.” Weller, along with many of the contributing artists, will be at the opening, which is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on August 18 at the Museum. The event will feature live music, hors d'oeuvres and cocktails.

Each piece of art – ranging from pencil drawings to sculptures – will be available for purchase by silent auction on opening night.

All remaining pieces not sold on opening night will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 8 a.m. CDT on August 20. Art sales will be available online, by telephone at 806-376-5181 and by email at artshow@aqha.org. The purchased artwork will remain on exhibit until the show closes in October.

Proceeds from the sale of the art go to the museum to support its efforts to preserve the history of the American Quarter Horse.

America's Horse in Art is underwritten by the Amarillo Convention and Visitor Council Art Committee, the Fairly Group, and the American Quarter Horse Foundation.
