Sent to post as the 11-10 favorite in a full field of 10 sophomores, La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC's Favorite Blues Man rolled to a 1 1/2-length victory in Saturday's $152,600 Dash For Cash Derby (G2) at Lone Star Park.

Favorite Blues Man covered 440 yards in :21.339. Francisco Calderon rode the gelded son of the Favorite Trick (TB) stallion Favorite Cartel for trainer Rolando Almanza.

The fastest qualifier, Favorite Blues Man made his local debut with a 1 3/4-length win in the third of four Dash For Cash Derby trials on September 17. The gelding was bred in California by Lucky Seven Ranch, and he is out of Amore La Blue, a winning graded stakes placed daughter of champion Mr Jess Perry and 2007 world champion Blues Girl Too.

Favorite Blues Man has won five of eight races and has earned $271,466 while racing in two states, including New Mexico. The gelding was a finalist in the July 23, 440-yard Rainbow Derby (G1) at Ruidoso Downs, and last year's Grade 1, 350-yard Ruidoso Futurity.

Kas Shes EC ran second and was followed by Cell Bounce, Just Call Me Jess, Lil Longmire, Coronas Candy Man, Rainbow To Roses, Smoky Ice, Dealarunner and Pycfastandfamous.
