The Grand Legend, a gelded son of the Fdd Dynasty stallion Fdd Going Grand, is the fastest qualifier to the December 14, $137,020 Evangeline Downs Derby.

Racing in the second of five 400-yard trials at Evangeline Downs on Saturday, The Grand Legend defeated seventh-fastest qualifier Pritty by 1 3/4 lengths in :19.581. Rodrigo Vallejo rode the gelding for owner Lifes Good Racing Partners LLC and trainer Jimmy Padgett.

The Grand Legend was bred in Texas by Mercy Hinklins Horse Farm LLC. He's won four of 11 races, including last year's 350-yard, $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile Invitational Stakes at Remington Park, and he has earned $44,309.
