Jockey Henry Reynoso Lopez, an 18-year-old student at Paloma Valley High School, enjoyed his first win ever when he piloted Alicia Suarez’s Gravity Rumors in the 110-yard fifth race on Sunday at Los Alamitos.

Riding for only the third time this season, Reynoso Lopez guided Gravity Rumors to a head victory in a time of :7.23 at odds of 7-1. The son of Red Hot Rhythm was picking up his second win in 17 career starts.

“I got started with my uncle, trainer Felix Gonzalez,” the teenage rider said. “I made my riding debut at Los Alamitos on October 19 aboard this same horse.”

A native of Menifee, California, Reynoso Lopez credits Eddie Garcia, this track’s all-time leading rider, current leading Quarter Horse jockey Vinnie Bednar, Erick Garcia, and Cesar Franco among jockeys that made him feel welcome in the jockey’s room at Los Alamitos. Gonzalez and Robert Lucas are among the trainers to give the young talent early opportunities on horses.

Reynoso Lopez added that he’s looking forward to riding both Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds at Los Alamitos and even in the daytime at the Southern California Thoroughbred racing circuit.
