National High School Finals Rodeo Returns July 14-20

High rodeo competitors and their American Quarter Horses gear up for the 2019 finals with cash, scholarships and prizes on the line.

The 2019 edition of the National High School Finals Rodeo rides into Rock Springs, Wyoming, July 14-20.

  • $100,000 – cash added to the NHSFR; this is the first year for added money.
  • $375,000 – scholarship money to be awarded.
  • $150,000 – prize value to be presented.

Horseback events included at the 2019 NHSFR:

  • Bareback riding
  • Barrel racing
  • Breakaway roping
  • Tie-down roping
  • Team roping
  • Saddle bronc riding
  • Goat tying
  • Pole bending
  • Steer wrestling
  • Bull riding
  • Cutting (boys/girls)
  • Reined cow horse

The 2019 NHSFR also features a shooting sports competition for .22-caliber rifles and trap shooting, as well as the rodeo queen contest.

High school members nominated their American Quarter Horses by March 1 to be eligible for the boys’ and girls’ AQHA Horse of the Year titles. Winners are presented trophy saddles at the NHSFR.
