Rancho El Cabresto Inc.’s Apollitical B King, a homebred gelded son of freshman sire Apollitical Blood, scored the fastest winning time from Wednesday's 12 300-yard training races at Ruidoso Downs.

Ridden by Ricky Ramirez for trainer Trey Wood, Apollitical B King stopped the timer in :15.782, the fastest winning time from the three days of training races at Ruidoso Downs. The California-bred gelding broke sharply and won his schooling race by two lengths.

"We gelded him at the ranch at Lubbock, and that really helped him," Wood said. "He looks like a pro. If he keeps on getting better, we'll be all right."

Apollitical B King's dam, the winning 7-year-old First Down Dash mare Bp Down South, ran second in the 2014 Remington Park Futurity (RG3).

Mark and Annette McCloy's Rocket Seis, a daughter of champion Tres Seis also trained by Wood, recorded the second-fastest time from Wednesday's training races. Ridden by Ramirez, the Oklahoma-bred filly covered 300 yards in :15.905 while defeating the Jess A Chicks filly Knockout Chick by a half of a length.

Rocket Seis was bred by Flag Ranch LLC, and she was a $77,000 purchase at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale. Her dam, the Holland Ease mare Going To The Hague, was a multiple graded stakes winner from 2005-07.

Both Apollitical B King and Rocket Seis are paid into all three Grade 1 futurities this summer at Ruidoso Downs, which opens its 54-day season on Friday.
