The American Quarter Horse Association awards a $1,000 scholarship and $600 of product provided by AQHA Corporate Partner Wrangler to an AQHYA member who excels in leadership and service. AQHYA Past President Justin Eddy of Rocheport, Missouri, was recognized as the 2021 Wrangler ASPIRE Award recipient on July 14 during the 2021 Bank of America Youth Excellence Seminar in Amarillo.

Eddy attended his first YES at age 13 and his experience inspired him to pursue a leadership path with AQHYA. Since then, he has been heavily involved in all aspects of the Association, from initiating a horse judging contest in his state affiliate, to stepping into leadership roles to help guide his fellow youth in their AQHYA journey.

“To me, service is the backbone of leadership,” said Eddy. “Service is the reason I wanted to be a leader.”

Outside of AQHYA, Eddy is involved with the FFA, is past president of the Missouri FFA and competes in public speaking. He is an avid competitor with the National Reining Horse Association and has taken an interest in public policy, specifically in advocating for the horse industry. Eddy plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in Agribusiness Management with an emphasis in public policy.
