Horses can take on many roles, whether it’s as a teammate who’s always up for anything, a confidante who never tells any of our secrets or a therapist whose soothing presence helps us through our darkest days. There are many reasons why our horses can become our heroes, but we want to hear your reason.

To enter the essay contest, submit a short story about your horse, as well as a photo. The essays will be judged on the heroic qualities of the horses and on the strength of the horse-human relationships.
