Unwanted Horse Coalition: Upcoming Operation Gelding Clinics

Operation Gelding, a program created by the Unwanted Horse Coalition, will be sponsoring several upcoming educational clinics.

The American Quarter Horse Association

Operation Gelding is a program sponsored by the Unwanted Horse Coalition that seeks to reduce the number of unwanted horses by aiding in the castration of male horses.

“Do a Good Deed, Geld Your Steed.” That’s the motto for one of the Unwanted Horse Coalition’s most successful programs, Operation Gelding.

Operation Gelding provides funds and materials that help organizations host low-cost or free castration clinics. Castration of a stallion will help prevent overbreeding, in turn reducing the number of unwanted horses. Castrations will also produce a gentler horse that is more rideable, trainable, saleable and adoptable. Funds of $50 per horse gelded, with a $1,000 maximum, will be awarded to participating groups once in a 12-month period.
