Barry Couper Named AQHA Chief Information Officer
The American Quarter Horse Association appoints Barry Couper as chief information officer.

The American Quarter Horse Association welcomes Barry Couper as the Association’s new chief information officer. Couper began his new role on April 17.
As the AQHA chief information officer, Couper will determine and formulate policies and provide overall direction of information technology for the Association and its subsidiary companies. He will also support near-term and strategic business objectives and activities; and plan, direct or coordinate IT operational staff and activities in the development of teams, methods and procedures to bring about a more efficient and productive organization.
“Barry will be a great addition to our team,” said Craig Huffhines, AQHA executive vice president. “His experience as a dedicated leader with management experience across all aspects of IT makes him an ideal fit for AQHA. We are excited to see what he brings to the table.”
Couper boasts a striking resume, which includes being director of customer billing and services; director of managed services application support; and director of platform engineering and operations with T-Mobile USA. In addition to working at T-Mobile USA since 2008, he has also been the executive director of information technology at Suncom Wireless; director of management information systems at Digital Television Services; and manager of end-user management, manager of call-center technology and manager of software development at GTE Wireless/Contel Cellular (now VERIZON).
Couper received his bachelor’s degree in computer information systems at DeVry Institute of Technology.
