Sugarman Perry Gets First SW
Mr Jess Perry stallion gets first stakes winner.

The Mr Jess Perry stallion Sugarman Perry got his first stakes winner on Monday, when Feisty Icon won the $58,041 Ontario Sires Stakes Derby (R).
Fiesty Icon is a 3-year-old gelding racing for Richard Kennedy of Mount Albert, Ontario, and he won the 330-yard stakes at Ajax Downs with authority. It is his sixth win in 11 career starts, and boosts his career earnings to $74,643. In August, Fiesty Icon was second behind Embrace Extravagence in the $82,302 Picov Derby. The horse was bred by Picov Cattle Co. and is out of the Special Effort mare Fiesty Spirit.
Sugarman Perry is a sorrel stallion bred by Bob and Jerry Gaston of Seguin, Texas. He is by leading sire Mr Jess Perry and out of the First Down Dash mare Down Town Miss, and he won or placed in 10 of 18 starts during his racing career.
Now owned by Christine Tavares of Enniskillen, Ontario, Sugarman Perry has sired 29 winners from 49 starters, with a solid average of $19,499 in earnings per starter.
He is also the sire of stakes-placed runners Sugar Boy Barry ($53,037) and Sugar Bar ($79,347).
