New Mexico-based sire Jesse James Jr died on August 24 after a battle with laminitis. He was 16.

Jesse James Jr stood at Mac and Janis Murray's MJ Farms at Veguita, New Mexico. A stakes-winning and Grade 1-placed son of champion Mr Jess Perry, Jesse James Jr sired the earners of nearly $13 million, including 2015 champion 3-year-old filly Astica.
