Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale Recap: Day One

The three-day Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale opened on Thursday.

Heritage Place opened its 39th Winter Mixed Sale on Thursday.

During the first day of the three-day sale, which concludes on Saturday, 240 head sold for a total of $2,059,200. The first-day average of $8,580 was down 16 percent from last year's average of $10,257.

"We sold 88 percent of the horses offered (on the first day)," said Heritage Place general manager Spence Kidney. "We probably had one of the greatest day one crowds for a Winter Mixed Sale session in a while, and we look forward to a great catalog for the next two days.

The Winter Mixed Sale continues on Friday, beginning at 10 a.m. (CST).
