Grade 1 Winner Little Talks Headlines Adequan Los Al Derby Challenge Trials

The homebred Favorite Cartel filly makes her sophomore debut on Sunday.

Little Talks is one of 17 3-year-olds entered in Sunday's Adequan Los Alamitos Derby Challenge trials.

Little Talks, a homebred daughter of Favorite Cartel racing for Dr. Steve Burns of Menifee, California, is one of 17 3-year-olds entered in Sunday's 400-yard Adequan Los Alamitos Derby Challenge trials.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 20, $30,000-added final.

Little Talks is coming off of a juvenile campaign during with she scored a neck victory in the 400-yard, $1.049-million Golden State Million Futurity (G1). The filly drew post 3 and will be ridden by Cesar DeAlba in the first of two trials.

Jim Walker's Zoomin For Spuds, a homebred son of Zoomin For Bux trained by Monty Arrossa and a three-time stakes winner at this track, drew post 8 and will be ridden by Cruz Mendez in the first heat. The gelding ships back to California from Idaho, where he ran third, a half of a length behind Magic Moment Blues, in the 400-yard, $38,000 Bitterroot Derby (R) at Sandy Downs.

Jess Good Reason is the morning-line favorite in the second trial. Trained by Paul Jones for owners John and Cina Sperrry, the Oklahoma-bred Good Reason Sa filly has won two races this season, including the April 2, $227,000 La Primera del Ano Derby (G3).

Jess Good Reason drew post 2 and will be ridden by Carlos Marquez.
