Desdemona Rambler Tops Retama Juvenile Trials
Grade 2-placed colt tops trials for Retama Juvenile Challenge.

Dan Grube's homebred Desdemona Rambler ran to form in his trial to the $75,870 John Deere Retama Juvenile Challenge, to be held on August 13.
The Tempting Dash colt was saddled by trainer Brian Stroud, who also saddled Adequan Retama Derby Challenge top-qualifier Tellereyematthebar later on the card, and ridden by Juan F. Garcia.
Desdemona Rambler ran to his 2-5 favorite form, clocking :17.866 over the 350-yard distance and finishing 1 3/4 lengths ahead of a late-charging Borger Boy, who also qualified.
Desdemona Rambler is out of the Fredricksburg mare Kritters Effort, is now 2-for-4 in his career, including a third-place finish in Just Call Me Carter's $540,000 Sam Houston Futurity (G2). He has earned $64,000.
Shez Freaky was the next fastest qualifier, coming out of the fifth trial, with a time of :18.107. She was ridden by Esgar Ramirez for trainer Rolondo Almanza and owner Mario Lozano-Cantu. Previously in her career, she was fifth in Duponte's Harrah's Entertainment Futurity (G3) and seventh in the John Deere Sam Houston Juvenile Challenge (G3).
