RTM Moonshine Headlines Merial Sun Downs Distaff Challenge Trials

The 4-year-old mare makes her season debut on Sunday.

Two 400-yard Merial Sun Downs Distaff Challenge trials will be run at Sun Downs on Sunday.

RTM Moonshine, a stakes winner during her 3-year-old campaign, will make her first-ever start against aged sprinters in Sunday’s 400-yard Merial Sun Downs Distaff Challenge trials at Sun Downs.

A 4-year-old daughter of champion Separatist trained by Ryan Hanson, RTM Moonshine will be making her first start since September 11, when the mare scored a nose victory as the odds-on favorite in the 400-yard Idaho Cup Derby (R) for state-bred 3-year-olds at Sandy Downs. RTM Moonshine has won five of seven starts and has earned $20,472.

RTM Moonshine drew post 2 and will be ridden by Eddie Aceves in the second of two trials.

Trainer Skyler Greene will send out Tic Tac Attack for owner BDS Performance Horses. A 4-year-old mare by Tac It Like A Man, Tic Tac Attack is coming off of a 1 1/4-length victory in the November 20, 400-yard Portland Meadows Fall Derby.

Tic Tac Attack drew post 5 and will be ridden by Nakia Ramirez in the first heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $20,000-added Merial Sun Downs Distance Challenge final on May 7. The winner of the final will earn a berth in the October 14, 400-yard Merial Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) at Prairie Meadows.
