Long Lost Buddy Tops Adequan Sun Downs Derby Challenge Qualifiers

Two 400-yard Adequan Sun Downs Derby Challenge trials were contested on Saturday.

Eddie Aceves rode Long Lost Buddy to a nose victory in the second of two Adequan Sun Downs Derby Challenge trials on Saturday.

Prepped by Mark Hanson for owners RTM Stables LLC, Ben McKinney, and Richard Gardner, Long Lost Buddy covered 400 yards in :20.403 to set the fastest qualifying time for the $20,000-added final on May 6. The California-bred Favorite Cartel gelding has won four of five starts and has earned $58,427, and his two stakes wins include last year's $118,804 Bitterroot Futurity (R) at Sandy Downs in Idaho.
