Sent to post as the 5-2 second choice in the field of nine 3-year-olds, fastest qualifier Ls Prince responded with a nose victory in Sunday's $23,999 Adequan Ajax Derby Challenge Stakes at Ajax Downs.

Raced exclusively at Ajax Downs, the bay gelding has won four of eight starts, including the first of two trials on July 30, and the $11,039 winner's share of the purse from his first career stakes victory increased his bankroll to $19,879, of which $15,461 has been earned this season.

Ls Prince earned a starting berth in the October 14, $180,000 Adequan Derby Challenge Championship (G3) at Prairie Meadows near Des Moines, Iowa.

Maryland Magic, the 2-1 favorite, finished third, one length behind Ls Prince. Hickerson, Mrs First Lady, Coronas Chrome, Kona Corona, Jewel Of An Episode, and Peves Freddy B completed the order of finish. Tenth-fastest qualifier One Dashin Rose was scratched.
