Challenge Flashback

This "big daddy" ruled the track for years.

He might have been a late bloomer, but he was an enduring bloom.

Once SLM Big Daddy got rolling, it was hard to stop him. He would win 24 of 49 career starts, accumulate $1,013,550 in earnings, and win 14 stakes races.

He would also earn six championship titles, including being world champion in 1997 and 1998.

A full 16 percent of his career earnings came from the Bank of America Racing Challenge program, including his Grade 1 win in the 1997 Challenge Championship.

Bred and raced by Steve and Lindsey Mitchell of Brownwood, Texas, SLM Big Daddy was by Daddy Hold On and out of Winds Of Victory, a daughter of The Bulldogger.
