Champion Imperial Eagle Tops Bank of America Turf Paradise Challenge Qualifiers

The sport's 2016 champion 2-year-old wins the second of two trials on Saturday.

Christina D. Robinson's Imperial Eagle, the sport's champion 2-year-old in 2016, is the fastest qualifier to the April 21, $30,000-added Bank of America Turf Paradise Championship Challenge.

On Saturday, Imperial Eagle won the second of two 440-yard trials by a nose from second-fastest qualifier Fighter Gone Wild in :21.453. J. Martin Bourdieu rode the 4-year-old One Famous Eagle gelding for trainer Tony Sedillo.

Imperial Eagle was making his first-ever start at Turf Paradise, and he was coming off of a neck victory in the March 10, 400-yard West Texas Maturity (G3) at Sunland Park. The gelding was bred in California by Fredda Draper of Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico, and he has won 11 of 19 starts an has earned $1,865,332. His resume includes a victory in the 2016 All American Futurity (G1).
