Glittering Blue Shines in Evergreen Park Distance Challenge

The 10-year-old gelding gets his first stakes win on Sunday.

A 10-year-old gelding, Glittering Blue won Sunday's AQHA Evergreen Park Distance Challenge Stakes.

Glittering Blue, a 10-year-old son of champion Jess Louisiana Blue owned by Cody Eagle Bear, earned his first stakes victory in his 58th official start, as the gelding won Sunday's $23,488 AQHA Evergreen Park Distance Challenge Stakes at Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Ridden by Blandford Stewart for trainer Alvin Cross Child, Glittering Blue went 870 yards in :45.750 while defeating runner-up Er Cafe by 1 1/4 lengths. The Alberta-bred gelding earned $11,744 and a berth in the $105,000 AQHA Distance Challenge Championship (G1) at Los Alamitos on November 17.

Glittering Blue was bred by Rigetti Farms Ltd. Raced exclusively in Alberta, he has won 19 outs, including one of five at the 870-yard distance, and he has banked $92,287.

Kr Streakin Version, the 4-5 favorite in the field of six, ran third, a head behind runner-up Er Cafe. Lucky Royal Rabbit, Asbigastexas, and Alpine Peaks completed the order of finish.
