Corona Ranger, SC Vapor Trail Headline Adequan Ruidoso Derby Challenge Trials

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the June 30, $60,000-est. final.

Corona Ranger and SC Vapor Trail are among the 32 sophomores entered in Friday's 400-yard Adequan Ruidoso Derby Challenge trials at Ruidoso Downs.

Corona Ranger has earned $169,565 from eight starts, and his three wins include a three-quarter length victory in the December 16, 400-yard Evangeline Downs Futurity. John Stinebaugh trains the Corona Cartel gelding for owner Vanessa Bartoo of Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico.

Corona Ranger drew post 2 and will be ridden by Agustin Silva in the last of four trials.

The 9-5 morning-line favorite in the second heat, SC Vapor Trail will be making his first-ever start at Ruidoso Downs. The bay Corona Cartel filly won last year's 350-yard, $44,000 John Deere Los Alamitos Juvenile Challenge and was a finalist in the 350-yard, $1-million Ed Burke Million Futurity.

SC Vapor Trail is trained by Mike Robbins for owner Reliance Ranches LLC. She drew post 3 and will be ridden by Stormy Smith.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $60,000-est. Adequan Ruidoso Derby Challenge final on June 30.
