Manuel Gutierrez rode even-money favorite Jess Adalida to a clear three-length victory in Friday's $39,060 AQHA Lone Star Distaff Challenge at Lone Star Park.

Trained by Josue Ponce for owner Ruben Garcia Montemayor, Jess Adalida went 400 yards in :19.663 while racing against a reported 12-mph head wind. The sorrel daughter of champion Jess Louisiana Blue earned $17,968 from her second stakes win, and she landed a berth in the November 17 AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) at Los Alamitos.

Jess Adalida was bred in California by Double Bar S Ranch LLC, and she was making her first start since May 11, when she ran eighth in the Old South Derby at Delta Downs. Raced in Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico, the filly has won six of 11 starts, including last year's John Deere Retama Juvenile Challenge at Retama Park, and she has banked $94,392.

Mystical Jess finished second and was followed by Mary Paintyourwagon, Apollitical Seven, Inundated, Ima Dashin Follie, Shiner Blond, Watergirl B, Alinas War Princess, and Miura.
