Midnight Corona sired his first stakes winner.

The Mr Jess Perry son Midnight Corona got his first stakes winner on Sunday when Sweet American Honey won the $15,150 Wyoming Downs Bonus Challenge.

The 4-year-old gelding races for Gerald Kaul of Sheridan, Wyoming, and has now won three of 19 career starts and earned $16,188. In the race, he won the 870-yard race by 1 ½ lengths, earning his second-highest career speed index of 103. He earned his highest lifetime speed index of 110 in his previous start, a 550-yard claiming race at Wyoming Downs. Bred by his owner, Sweet American Honey is out of the Dashin Moon Shadow mare An Illusive Glance.

Midnight Corona is a 12-year-old stallion by Mr Jess Perry out of the First Down Dash mare Corona Cash. The regally-bred stallion is owned by Askin Jordan Partners LLC of Belgrade, Montana.

Midnight Corona was a race winner, with 15 career starts and earnings of $11,487. He earned a career-high speed index of 102 while racing at Ruidoso Downs.

His sire is the No. 3 all-time leading sire, with progeny earnings exceeding $44.4 million. Midnight Corona’s dam is a four-time champion and the 1997 All American Futurity (G1) winner. She won four Grade 1s and 11 stakes in her career that included earnings of $1,542,880. She is the dam of 17 winners from 27 starters, including three stakes winners: Hez Fast As Cash (by Heza Fast Man, $79,359), Pot Ocash (by Mr Eye Opener, $68,019) and Louisana Corona (by Jess Louisiana Blue, $186,206). She is also the dam of Feature Corona (by Feature Mr Jess, $114,216) and Two Corona Special (by Strawfly Special, $111,893).  

Midnight Corona, who stands at All West Veterinary Hospital in Bozeman, Montana, has sired 29 winners from 63 starters with earnings more than $275,000. He is also the sire of stakes-placed runner Runaway For Corona ($34,123).
