Iowa Stallion Service Auction is Jan. 4

Stallion service auction held in conjunction with annual meeting.

The 2014 stallion service auction for the Iowa Quarter Horse Racing Association will be held on Saturday, January 4, in conjunction with the association’s annual meeting.

The event will be held at the Ramada Inn off I-80 and Merle Hay Rd. in Des Moines, Iowa. It includes the general meeting, board meeting and service auction.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the auction begins at 10 a.m. The general meeting begins at 1 p.m.

There are more than 150 stallions available, including many of the leading sires in the industry. Foals resulting from these breedings will be eligible for the 2016 Iowa Double Gold Futurity and 2017 Iowa Double Gold Derby.

In 2013, Marty and Shalia Powers’ Heza Fast Invictus won the $102,094 Iowa Double Gold Futurity (RG3). Undefeated in five starts, the Mighty Invictus gelding has earned $111,968. The following day, Bobby and Vickie Hammer’s HR Ebony Princess won the $59,372 Iowa Double Gold Derby (R). The Ivory James filly has earned $88,949 in her career.
