Blake Wins Ace Showdown Week 1
Denis Blake leads Racing Aces Handicapping Showdown after first week.
July 6, 2014
Racing Ace Denis Blake broke from the starting gate like juvenile star Kiss My Hocks, and never relinquished the lead in week one of the Racing Aces Summer Showdown Handicapping Contest. Blake selected Hezadashinbye ($34.80/$9.20) in the Firecracker Futurity (G2), scratched into Stoli Angel ($3.20/$2.20) in the Merial Arapahoe Distaff Challenge and finished the weekend by selecting Far Niente ($6.80/$4.80) in the Vessels Maturity (G1).
Blake parlayed the $20 total investment ($2 to win/place on five races) into a net score of $61, leaving fellow Aces Jen Perkins, Jennifer Hancock, John Hernandez and Martha Claussen in the dust for the first week of the five-week competition.
The Racing Aces Summer Showdown will feature Aces Denis Blake, Martha Claussen, Jennifer Hancock, John Hernandez and Jen Perkins battling for weekly honors and the overall champion title in a five-week challenge culminating with the All American Futurity weekend on Labor Day.
Each of the contests will involve selecting the winners of five key American Quarter Horse racing events at tracks across the country. The Ace with the highest win/place earnings will be honored as the weekly winner with the overall champion crowned at the culmination of the final weekend of the Summer Showdown.
Blake will have to bring his "A" game in the next round as his fellow Aces will be out for revenge on July 19-20 when they handicap the following races:
Rainbow Derby (G1)
Wyoming Downs Futurity
La Villita Stakes
Rainbow Futurity (G1)
Gillespie County Fair Maiden Challenge
The Racing Aces Summer Showdown continues on July 16, July 26, August 9 and Labor Day weekend. Follow us on the Q-Racing Aces Facebook page or on Twitter @HorseRacingAces.
