Initial nominations for several Hialeah stakes are due July 15. The Hialeah meet opens December 26 and will run 40 days over 10 weeks at $140,000 per day. It closes March 2.
Nominations are due and must be postmarked by the 15th (48 hour grace period) for five stakes, including the $500,000-est. Hialeah Derby, $250,000-est. South Florida Derby, $250,000-est. Hialeah Maturity, $95,000-est. Stallion Stakes Derby and $50,000-est. Sunshine State Derby. Sustaining payments will be due the 15th of every month through December.
The derbies are for foals of 2012, and the maturity is for foals of 2011.

The meet will also offer a distance stakes series and a sprint stakes series for horses 3 and up.
The distance series offers a $20,000 bonus to horses competing in at least three of the series races. The races are the December 28, $25,000-added Orange Blossom (550 yards); January 28, $25,000-added Moonstone Stakes (660 yards); February 8, $30,000-added Key West Stakes (1,000 yards) and March 1, $40,000-added Sailfish Stakes (1,000 yards).
The sprint series offers a $15,000 bonus to horses competing in at least three of the series races. The races are the January 11, $20,000-added Speedball Stakes (110 yards); January 25, $20,000-added Tallahassee Stakes (220 yards); February 15, $20,000-added Roble Rojo Stakes (220 yards); and March 1, $20,000-added Beautiful Prairie Stakes (250 yards).
Accredited Florida-breds will earn 20 percent more purse money for their owners and breeders over open horses at the meet, and 50 percent of the races will be accredited Florida-bred preferred.
