Racing Ace Summer Showdown
Racing Aces to star in summer handicapping showdown.
June 30, 2014
The Racing Aces of AQHA are fine tuning their handicapping skills for the Racing Aces Summer Showdown. Aces Denis Blake, Martha Claussen, Jennifer Hancock, John Hernandez and Jen Perkins will battle for weekly honors and the overall champion title in a five-week challenge, beginning on July 4th weekend and culminating with the All American Futurity weekend on Labor Day.
Each of the contests will involve selecting the winners of five key American Quarter Horse racing events at tracks across the country. The Ace with the highest win/place earnings will be honored as the weekly winner with the overall champion crowned at the culmination of the final weekend of the Summer Showdown.
The selected races for the first weekend of the competition are:
July 4 $278,125 Firecracker Futurity (G2) Delta Downs
July 5 $138,000 Firecracker Derby Delta Downs
July 5 $20,000 Merial Arapahoe Distaff Challenge Arapahoe Park
July 5 $35,000 Indiana Grand Classic Indiana Grand Racing
July 6 $168,300 Vessels Maturity (G1) Los Alamitos
In addition to making a selection for each of the five featured events, the Aces will post a detailed analysis of the contest stakes. Racing fans will be able to root for their favorite Ace on the Q-Racing Aces Facebook page or by following the Aces on Twitter@HorseRacingAces.
"We have a loyal following on social media and felt that this would be both informative and entertaining for Quarter Horse racing fans," said AQHA Executive Director of Racing Trey Buck. “The Aces are excellent handicappers and follow the many circuits with live appearances and ongoing social media coverage. They are looking forward to spirited competition over the next two months.”
The Racing Aces program got underway in 2010 with an experienced group of American Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred handicappers, racing writers and publicists.
