Longtime horseman Warren Beaver, 79, of Ruidoso Downs passed away Friday, July 4, in Alto, New Mexico. He was born December 6, 1934 at Snyder, Texas, He served in the Army during the Korean War and received a Purple Heart.

He married his wife, Betty, on April 16, 1973, in Midland, Texas. Warren was a production drilling engineer until 1978 when he and Betty moved to Gail, Texas, and owned and operated the Beaver Ranch until 2008.

In 1984 he started the Beaver Horse Transportation and in 1986 he and Betty bought Circle J Bar-B-Q. He moved to Lincoln County in 1995. He attended the J Bar J Country Church in Ruidoso.

Warren is survived by his wife, Betty, of Ruidoso Downs; two sons, Bill Jennings of Ruidoso Downs and Burt Jennings of Ledbetter, Texas; a daughter, Kelly McCormick of Floydada, Texas; a brother, Morris Courville of Andrews, Texas; six grandchildren, Kyle Jennings and Dean Jennings of Austin, Texas, McCrae McCormick and Madolyn McCormick of Floydada, Texas; and Shyann Lawrence and Cody Lawrence of Ledbetter, Texas.

Memorial service were held July 8 at the J Bar J Country Church in Ruidoso.
