Remington Park Wagering Up

Remington Park closes its season with higher handle.

Press Release

Remington Park closed it spring meet with gains.

Continuing a trend that began in 2013, Remington Park’s racing product remains well-received by horseplayers. The recently completed 2014 American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season finished higher in total pari-mutuel handle, led by strong recognition in the export market.

The 50-date season experienced a growth of 4.7 percent in total handle on Remington Park action compared to the same season a year ago. Fans wagered $833,631 more this season than they did in 2013.

“Remington Park is pleased that the handle on our racing product continues to increase,” said Matt Vance, vice-president of racing and wagering. “The presentation, featuring the top horses and horsemen in the sport of Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa racing, aids our business model tremendously. We are appreciative of the support from all of our fans and horseplayers.”

Positive relationships with racing partners in other jurisdictions and the TVG horse racing television presence for Remington Park helped boost the track’s export handle 6.7 percent, up $904,759, over last year’s totals.

Remington Park was able to run a full schedule of racing during the Quarter Horse season with no programs shortened or lost due to severe weather. A total of 563 races were conducted in 2014, 14 more than a year ago.

Live horse racing is on hiatus at Remington Park until the 67-date Thoroughbred Season begins on August 15, running thru December 14.

Until then, Remington Park is open daily at 10:30 a.m. for simulcast racing and casino gaming, featuring the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park.

Tracked by over 60,000 fans on Facebook and 5,500 Twitter followers, Remington Park is Oklahoma City’s only Racetrack & Casino and is located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District.
