Royally Bred Filly Tops Day 3 of Ruidoso Training Races

Ruidoso's 2014 meet opens May 22.

Grant Farms LLC’s royally bred filly Famous Corona Lady turned in the top time of :15.780 for 300 yards during a morning of fierce headwinds on Wednesday, the last of three days of schooling races at Ruidoso Downs.

Famous Corona Lady is a daughter of Corona Cartel and One Famous Lady, the dam of champion and leading sire One Famous Eagle. She was bred by AQHA President Johnny Trotter and consigned to the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale by Four Sixes Ranch, agent. She was purchased by Grant Farms for $155,000.

Paul Jones trains Famous Corona Lady and Esgar Ramirez was aboard.

The remaining top-10 times from the 12 races on Wednesday were Eyesa Good One (:15.886), Teller Valentine (:15.968), Poker Chip 831 (:15.986), Famous Bank (:15.997), Significant Jess (:16.028), Miz Good Friday (:16.036), Bodacious Eagle (:16.041), ZZ Hitachi (:16.066) and JSS Baybe Corona (:16.067).

Many of the 2-year-olds who competed in the schooling races will make their career debuts during the trials to the $700,000 Ruidoso Futurity (G1) on May 22-23, the first two days of the Ruidoso summer season. The horses with the five-fastest times from each day of the Ruidoso Futurity trials qualify for the Ruidoso Futurity on June 8.
