2015 All American Derby Worth $2.3M

2015 nomination deadlines approaching November 15.

Press Release

Ruidoso stakes payments are coming due.

The 2015 running of the All American Derby (G1) now has an estimated purse of $2.3 million, up $400,000 from the 2014 purse.

There are 313 2-year-olds currently eligible for the 2015 All American Derby. The next All American Derby supplemental payment opportunity is on February 1, 2015 and is $30,000.

“The All American Derby is the premier Quarter Horse derby and this increase over last year shows the horsemen’s support that we truly appreciate,” said Ruidoso Downs’ general manager Shaun Hubbard. “This year’s All American Derby, once again, will be a race which impacts championship voting.”

Racing integrity is the highest priority at Ruidoso Downs. Next summer, there will be “super testing,” pre-race testing, an extensive video surveillance system, off-site testing in cooperation with the New Mexico State Police and all horses must be in the Ruidoso barn area 10 days before running in the trials of each of the Ruidoso Grade 1 futurities and derbies. They must remain on the grounds until the finals are contested.

On November 15, a sustaining payment for eligible yearlings and a supplemental payment for yearlings not eligible to the 2015 runnings of the Grade 1, $2.7 million All American Futurity, $1 million Rainbow Futurity and the $750,000 Ruidoso Futurity are due.

The November 15 sustaining payment for the 2015 All American Futurity is $500 and the supplemental payment to gain eligibility is $2,200.

The November 15 sustaining payment for the 2015 Rainbow Futurity is $500 and the supplemental payment to gain eligibility is $1,800.

The November 15 sustaining payment for the 2015 Ruidoso Futurity is $350 and the supplemental payment to gain eligibility is $1,600.

Sustaining payments are for yearlings who are already eligible for the race. Supplemental payments are for horses who are not eligible and a horse gains eligibility by making the supplemental payment. Supplemented horses’ connections must then make the upcoming sustaining payments to maintain eligibility.
