Top Poll 2-Year-Old Holds Strong

Heza Dasha Fire leads freshman pollsters.

Q-Racing Journal

Heza Dasha Fire leads the freshman this week.

Heza Dasha Fire doused the competition in November 2’s $1,031,100 Golden State Million Futurity (G1) at Los Alamitos, securing his spot atop the AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com national rankings for 2-year-olds. Unbeaten in five career starts, including the Ed Burke Million Futurity (G1) final, the gelding was a near-unanimous choice among pollsters, garnering all but one first-place vote.

The top 10 juveniles remained the same this week as pollsters did not advance No. 9 Apollitical Blood following a runner-up try in the Golden State Million Futurity behind Heza Dasha Fire.

Things also stood pat among balloting for the 3-year-olds and older, where Moonist remains the top-ranked horse in the land. With the recent cancellation of the Champion of Champions (G1) from the Los Alamitos schedule, there will be fewer major chances for older horses to make poll noise over the final weeks of the 2014 schedule.
