News Release

Los Alamitos has announced new requirements for the Champion of Champions.

Los Alamitos Race Course has announced new requirements for finalists competing in this year’s Grade, 1 $600,000 Champion of Champions to be held on Saturday, December 13.

All horses eligible to run in the Champion of Champions must be on the grounds at Los Alamitos by Saturday, November 22. This date is three weeks prior to the running of the Champion of Champions. In addition, all participants will be hair tested to determine if Clenbuterol has been administered within the last six months.

The announcement comes on the heels of the rescheduling of the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Super Derby to Saturday, November 15. The Super Derby was originally scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 1. Horses with the 30 fastest times to the Super Derby are also undergoing hair tests. It is possible, although not known at this time, that there will be revisions to the qualifying list of horses racing in the Super Derby. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
