World champion to stand at AVS Equine Hospital.
October 29, 2014
World champion Wave Carver will stand the 2015 breeding season at AVS Equine Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. His introductory fee is $2,500 with considerations. There are limited breedings available.
The 11-year-old son of First Down Dash out of leading dam Runaway Wave, by Runaway Winner. He won 11 of 18 starts, with five additional placings and earned $1,005,946. His stakes wins include the 2006 Champion of Champions (G1), Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1) and Governor's Cup Derby (RG2), as well as the 2005 Los Alamitos Million Juvenile (RG3). He also placed in the Golden State Million Futurity (G1), Los Alamitos Winter Derby (G1) and Golden State Derby (G1). He was named the 2006 world champion, champion 3-year-old and champion 3-year-old colt. He is owned by a syndicate.
"He is one of the best-bred stallions and best-looking stallions in the country with a sire and dam line second to none," said AVS owner Dr. Steve Fisch. "He was sound and durable during his world championship race career. Wave Carver has proven that he passes that very important trait to his progeny. His babies are very trainable and intelligent as were the progeny of his sire and grandsire, First Down Dash and Dash For Cash."
From five crops to race, Wave Carver has sired 193 winners from 325 starters, with progeny earnings of more than $6 million. He was a leading first crop sire and was No. 25 in 2011, No. 13 in 2012 and was the No. 22 leading sire of money earners in 2013.
His leading runners include All American Futurity (G1) runner-up Sudden Thoughts ($436,330) and Canadian champion One Kool Wave ($321,968).
"Florida racing emphasizes the American Quarter Horse classic race distances of 400 and 440 yards," Fisch said. "Florida-breds are showing up in the major stakes races, such as Pacifico 1 as the 11th fastest qualifier in the Rainbow Futurity (G1) trials. Florida’s major open stakes races are all at 400 and 440 yards. Florida’s upcoming 2016 $200,000 Guaranteed Sunshine State Derby stakes that is restricted to Florida breds is 400 yards. That presents a great opportunity for a classic distance specialist to come to the classic distance state and continue to prove himself as a great classic distance sire."
Wave Carver's sire is the sport's all-time leading sire. His dam is the No. 2 all-time leading broodmare, making him a half brother to champion and sire Ocean Runaway ($1,642,498), Grade 1 winner Trisk ($254,233), etc.
"We are very excited to stand such a great stallion," said Fisch. "We welcome you all to come and see this great horse. We are already getting calls for 2015 Wave Carver bookings in just this first afternoon of having him officially in Florida. I think he is a great horse and he is certainly a great deal."
