Jockey Raul Valenzuela was arrested and removed from the jocks area just before the $2.6 million All American Futurity (G1) on Monday at Ruidoso Downs for unknown reasons.
Valenzuela was suspended by the Ruidoso Downs board of stewards earlier this month according to the New Mexico Racing Commission for allegedly possessing an unlawful electrical device. Track officials were unavailable to comment on the sudden switch in jockeys. Appolitical Blood finished fourth under replacement jockey Omar Reyes.
Twenty-year-old Valenzuela could face a lengthy suspension and possible loss of his license for the alleged possession of the unlawful electronic device.
