Lone Star Park opens September 19.

A stakes schedule worth approximately $2.3 million will greet horsemen at this year’s Lone Star Park fall Quarter Horse “Meet of Champions,” which opens September 19.

Once again, the Lone Star meet will be topped by the 400-yard, $1-million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) on closing night, November 15. One of Quarter Horse racing’s richest races for 2-year-olds, the Texas Classic Futurity began its history at Trinity Meadows in 1993. Past winners of the stakes include AQHA champions Heza Fast Man (1993), Mr Jess Perry (’94), Winalota Cash (’95), Toast To Dash (’96), Eyesa Special (2000), and Tempting Dash (’09).

The Texas Classic Futurity will share Lone Star Park’s closing-night bill with the 440-yard, $400,000-est. Texas Classic Derby (G1). Other graded Quarter Horse stakes during the meet include the 440-yard, $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap (G1) on October 4, and the 400-yard, $450,000-est. Dash For Cash Futurity (G1) and 440-yard, $150,000-est. Dash For Cash Derby (G2), both of which will be run on October 11.

Lone Star Park will conduct live racing on a Thursday-through-Saturday schedule. Post time for the first live race will be 6:35 p.m. (Central).

Several renovations have been made at the track since its 2013 Quarter Horse meet, including a new in-house television system and a complete remodeling of 21 group-sales penthouse suites, including new furniture, flooring, and televisions. Also, the track’s Dash For Cash Room has been remodeled to include a huge video wall presentation, flat screen televisions, a larger full-service bar, and Marazzi tile flooring.

All Lone Star Park races will be available on Q-RacingVideo.com.
