September 10, 2014
There will be no live Friday night racing for the next two weeks at Los Alamitos Race Course, but the Saturday and Sunday programs will feature full cards featuring an Early and Late Pick Four and a Pick Six wager.
The two Friday nights in which Los Alamitos will be dark are September 12 and September 19. Friday night racing will return on September 26.
Meanwhile, when night racing resumes this week on Saturday, September 13, the program will have the added spice of the $15,529 Pick 6 Carryover from Sunday, August 31. With the new money expected to be wagered into this Saturday’s Pick 6, the total pool should be over $50,000. Saturday’s first race will immediately follow the last daytime Thoroughbred race at Los Alamitos.
On the track, Saturday’s action will be headlined by the trials to the PCQHRA Breeders Derby. Three-time derby winner Moonist, the hero of the El Primero Del Ano, Governor’s Cup and Golden State derbies, will headline the trials. Sunday’s card will feature a full night of Quarter Horse racing with the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity trials.
Next weekend’s marquee event is the Go Man Go Handicap (G1), one of the nation’s most prestigious races for Quarter Horses. World Champion Last To Fire and recent Bank of America California Championship winner New Look are among the horses that could see action in the Go Man Go. For more info, please call 714-820-2690.
