"Too Flash" Dashes To No. 1

All American Derby winner sails up the national poll.

Q-Racing Journal

Too Flash For You went straight to the top on a 4-for-4 season.

Previously unranked, Too Flash For You won over voters in this week's AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com National Poll for older horses much in the same fashion as he steamrolled the competition in Sunday’s All American Derby (G1). The nation's new No. 1-ranked performer among the elder set supplanted Houdini atop the rankings just as he did on the racetrack at Ruidoso Downs when Houdini finished third.

Too Flash For You is now 4-for-4 on the 2014 season, all in New Mexico, including a pair of Restricted Grade 2 wins to go along with his All American Derby title. The Wesley Giles-trained son of First Moonflash has turned the corner on a 1-for-9 juvenile campaign to lead his sophomore class. Houdini, beaten three-quarters of a length in the All American Derby as the 8-5 favorite, fell just one spot to No. 2 this week. The other major mover in the rankings for 3-year-olds and older was veteran DM Streakn Thru Fire, who ascended to No. 7 following his upset in the All American Gold Cup (G1) at 26-1 odds.

Among the 2-year-old balloting this week, All American Futurity (G1) winner JM Miracle jumped five spots to No. 2, following his Labor Day effort, but fell short of eclipsing two-time major futurity hero Kiss My Hocks for the top spot. Monday's All American finalists wound up taking four slots in this week's poll, including runner-up Mad About The Moon (No. 7), third-place Sam Crow (No. 10) and fifth-place Bodacious Eagle (who dropped one spot this week to No. 9).
