Inclement winter weather has forced Sunland Park Racetrack to cancel Sunday's scheduled nine-race program.

Inclement winter weather in the El Paso area has forced Sunland Park Racetrack to cancel its live racing program for Sunday.

According to a press release distributed by the track, nine inches of snow fell in the area overnight. However, the track will be open for simulcast wagering, and its casino will remain open.

The three Quarter Horse stakes scheduled for Sunday -- The Championship at Sunland Park (G1), Lou Wooten/Sydney Valentini Handicap (RG1), and Sunland Juvenile Championship -- have been rescheduled for Sunday, January 3.

Live racing is scheduled to resume at Sunland Park on Monday. The track's nine-race program includes four Shue Fly Stakes (RG2) trials.
