Hialeah Park Racing and Casino will hit the New Year of 2015 in full stride after a very successful opening week of live Quarter Horse racing on December 26-29.
During the first four days of racing, Hialeah Park’s all-sources wagering handle for live racing was just over $1.5 million dollars, representing a significant increase over comparable figures from last season.
“We are racing four days a week, Friday through Monday, this season,” said Hialeah Park’s Vice President of Marketing & Entertainment Frank Fiore. “We’ve compacted the racing calendar, refined our promotion strategy, and worked on solidifying our relationship with TVG. So far, it’s working well.”
Live Quarter Horse racing continues four days a week through Monday March 2. Hialeah Park will run two of its major stakes races, the $417,575 Hialeah Derby and the $204,715 Hialeah Maturity, on Sunday January 18.
In conjunction with those two rich stakes races, Hialeah Park and AQHA will team up to sponsor an on-track handicapping contest and host a visit from well-known racing personality and bilingual Q-Racing Ace John Hernandez.
On the entertainment side, Hialeah Park Racing & Casino will offer a variety of interesting events through March:
Car Shows – Sunday January 18 & Sunday February 15
DJ El Russo in the Flamingo Lounge – Starting Friday January 23
Valentine’s Day Dinner & Show with Eddie Cruz in the Citation Room – Saturday February 14
A Taste of Cuba – Saturday February 28 & Sunday March 1
ESPN Thursday Night Fights – Thursday March 26
