Trainer Paul Jones is approaching a win milestone at Los Alamitos.

With a new season now well on its way at Los Alamitos, there are several jockeys and trainers that are approaching milestones at the track.

One of the most important figures to watch in 2015 will be Ramon Sanchez, who is now just 14 stakes wins away from becoming the all-time leader in stakes wins at Los Alamitos. Sanchez has won 135 stakes races during his outstanding career in Southern California, a number that leaves him 13 wins away from equaling the all-time mark of 148 currently held by Eddie Garcia. Sanchez has had season in which he has won more than 20 stakes races here, so 14 is not out of the realm of possibility for the talented rider.

Trainer Paul Jones, already second in the all-time list of stakes wins, is only two stakes wins shy from reaching 300 stakes wins at Los Alamitos. The legendary Blane Schvaneveldt is the all-time leader with 385. Trainer Jaime Gomez is six stakes wins away from 70 in his career. Only five trainers have ever reached the 70 stakes win plateau at Los Alamitos.

Trainer John Cooper is nine stakes wins away from becoming the third trainer with 100 stakes wins here.

Jockey Rodrigo Aceves, who is expected to return to riding later this year, is nine stakes wins away from becoming the eighth rider with 100 stakes wins, while Cesar De Alba needs four to reach 50 stakes wins. Saul Ramirez Jr. and Eduardo Nicasio are also closing in on the 50 stakes win mark. Ramirez Jr., is five away, while Nicasio is seven shy from that mark.

In the Quarter Horse wins category, Alex Bautista needs 33 victories to join Garcia, Danny Cardoza, Kenny Hart and John Creager as the only riders to reach the 2,000 win mark. Ramon Sanchez needs 60 wins to reach 1,800, while Rodrigo Aceves is 64 from 1,800.
