Monmouth Park Racetrack has named Mike Anifantis its new director of racing.

Longtime industry executive Mike Anifantis has been named director of racing at Monmouth Park, a Thoroughbred track in New Jersey.

Anifantis is currently racing secretary at Hialeah Park in south Florida, whose winter Quarter Horse meet runs December 26-February 29. Anifantis is expected to start his new duties in March 2016, prior to the start of Monmouth Park’s meet on May 14.

Anifantis’ relationship with Monmouth Park dates back to the 1970s, as his first job in racing was as the track’s claims clerk. He was Monmouth’s assistant racing secretary last year.

“I’m honored to be back at Monmouth and to take the helm in the racing office,” Anifantis said in a release. “It’s as if my career has now come full circle, and I’m thrilled to be back where it all started for me.”

Anifantis has worked at several tracks throughout the country, including as racing secretary at Remington Park in Oklahoma City and as assistant general manager/director of racing at SunRay Park near Farmington, New Mexico.
